Rights Respecting Award - Bronze!

We are thrilled to tell you that we have recently been awarded the first stage of Unicef UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA), Bronze: Rights Committed.

As part of our ongoing efforts to become a Rights Respecting School, we have informed the whole school community through staff meetings and school assemblies at Lower and Upper School. We have an active steering group in place, who have regular meetings with our School Council members, SLT and governors who ensure that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) underpin our values and decision making in school, that the whole school learns about the CRC and are empowered to become active learners on this subject. All members of our community are enthused to embed the rights of the child into our school.

The next step in our Rights Respecting journey is to work towards Silver, at which point we will continue to promote knowledge and understanding of the Convention throughout our community, embedding its practises to our pupils and our pupils will begin to see themselves as rights respecting global citizens - advocates for equality and children's rights.

We aim to achieve the Silver award through whole school community promotion, using the curriculum, focus days, artwork./displays and assemblies to teach the importance of he rights of the child, allowing our pupils to make decisions that impact them and those around them, modelling respectful attitudes and language and developing our pupils to be ambassadors for the rights of others.

We are always striving to create the best learning environment for our pupils, and this achievement demonstrates our commitment to promoting, realising and education ourselves and pupils of children's rights, and encourage every member of our community to respect the rights of others. We look forward to achieving the Silver Award, and celebrating the Bronze Award when we receive the certificate!
