Family Support

Perseid School’s Family Support worker, Tracey Fowles, is available between 9am-3pm each day. Tracey’s role is wide and varied but with a specific focus on support for families with issues that arise as a result of their child’s special needs. Tracey can help with: -

  • Referrals to the Short Breaks team
  • Advice on play schemes run within the borough
  • brokering support and advice between families and agencies such as housing, CAMHS, Family Information Services
  • Any safeguarding concerns or concerns in general
  • Arranging parent workshops
  • Help with filling out forms for benefits.

Tracey acts as the school’s attendance officer which includes talking with and supporting families of pupils whose attendance is of concern, and making referrals to the Education Welfare Officer if appropriate.

Tracey also leads the Friday morning (10-11.30am) Family Fun Friday event for parents of pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This drop-in event welcomes parents, their son or daughter who attends Perseid and any younger siblings to join in with fun activities, learn from perseid staff, meet other families and share information.

Perseid School also work alongside the Family Fund; a charity that provides grants for families raising disabled and seriously ill children and young people. The grants can be used for a wide range of items, such as washing machines, sensory toys, family breaks, bedding, tablets, furniture, outdoor play equipment, clothing and computers. These grants help break down many of the barriers families face, improving their quality of life and easing the additional daily pressures. For more information visit their website
