Perseid School

Book Week

This year, Book Week focused on Adventures Together: Promoting Well-Being through Reading Together. Throughout the week, it was our aim to celebrate reading together after time apart; reading, working and learning together to support positive wellbeing and celebrate ourselves, our differences and how we can work as a team.

As always, the event was a roaring success and pupils welcomed the opportunity to immerse themselves in literature.

Giraffe class had a great time exploring the different stories in Book Week. They have enjoyed spending time outside decorating a large plant pot to plant sunflower seeds in for the story Errol's Garden and making sensory bottles and exploring different emotion sensory trays after reading the book The Colour Monster. They also enjoyed playing with kites and bubbles outside for the story The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be.

In Zebra class, pupils explored sensory materials from Handa's Surprise, led by our Speech and Language therapist Steph.
Pupils dressed in their own clothes and fancy dress, and staff decorated doors to complement the books read in class.
We warmly welcomed David and Jez from Colourscape to Perseid Lower School for the whole week! David delivered a session in the music room focused on colour and sound using sensors, whilst Jez delivered an art session where each pupil painted a piece of artwork using acrylic paint.
We would like to thank and celebrate all the pupils and staff for their hard work in making Book Week- Adventures Together, a successful and exciting week.
