Childcare Provision Following Closure Advice

Dear Families

In the light of the Government’s decision to close all schools with effect from today, and the need, at the beginning of next week, for us to plan for a safe-for-all childcare provision, we need to know whether you as parents would wish your child to be considered in our plans for such provision, or whether you are deciding to keep your child home for purposes of isolation or distancing at this time.

It goes without saying that abiding by the very latest government advice and / or directive is essential in relation to ensuring that children, families, staff and the wider community stay safe at this time of international crisis.

We know that government guidance tells us that if children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of virus spreading. We know that we are also being told by the government that the fewer children making the journey to school and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society. Government advice is that the number one principle is that if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.

A form and email have been sent by ParentMail but there seems to be an issue.  Please email the school office on office@perseid.merton.sch.uk, whether you would wish your child to be considered for childcare provision here over the next two weeks by today at 2 pm. We will contact you again early next week to confirm arrangements. We are aware that there is a problem with the Atomwide Telephony network which is affecting some schools so please email in the first instance.

We sincerely wish you and your wider families well in what are extremely challenging times for us all.
