EYFS pupils Weekly Walks to the Park

Once a week throughout the Summer term, some pupils from EYFS are walking to and exploring the park! The children begin walking from Lower School and aim to end their walk at the park within Morden Recreation Ground; whilst taking in the sights and smells of the journey.

The aim of the walks are to support the children with understanding the physical world around them. This is done by encouraging the children to explore the natural elements, such as touching the trees and leaves, or smelling the flowers or freshly cut grass. When at the park, there is ample opportunity for the children to develop their gross motor skills, by climbing on the climbing frame, or sliding down the slide!

Doing these walks weekly will increase the familiarity of the community with the children, and support them to feel safe and thrive.
