A Visit to Kew Gardens

On a warm Spring day, Octopus Class embarked on an exciting trip to Kew Gardens as part of their Creative Curriculum topic, Enchanted Woodland. This visit allowed Octopus Class to experience nature firsthand in the heart of one of the most beautiful gardens in the world.

The adventure began with a thrilling walk along the Treetop Walkway, a towering structure that allowed the children to explore the treetops like true adventurers! As they made their way high above the ground via the lift, the students were amazed by the sweeping views of the garden below and the towering trees around them.

Next, Octopus class visited the Palm Greenhouse, where they were transported to tropical climates. The students marveled at the towering palm trees, vibrant flowers, and exotic plants. It was a fascinating sensory experience as they experienced different plants which exist in woodlands around the world, from the dry deserts to wet rainforests.

Finally, Octopus Class took a peaceful walk through the woodlands at Kew, enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world. They spotted various trees, plants, and even some woodland creatures! The children were encouraged to observe the different textures of leaves, bark, and flowers, which they really enjoyed.

This trip to Kew Gardens was a perfect way for the children to bring their Enchanted Woodland topic to life. It was a day full of sensory learning, fun, and adventure that will be remembered!
