Autumn Term Report: Pupil Voice

Pupil Voice is a priority at Perseid and it is elicited in a number of ways to allow all pupils to express their needs and wants. All pupils are given the opportunity to express themselves using their preferred communication method and all voices and views are valued.

The benefit is that pupils are supported to develop their social and communication skills, pupils are heard and as a result their self-esteem and lived school experiences are improved which research suggests holds a direct link to improved long term outcomes.

School Council Lower School: Children's Parliament (no longer school council!)

This academic year consists of six pupils (four from purple pathway and two from blue). We will meet each half term to discuss issues impacting the pupils and school. In our first meeting (next week) we will be deciding on who we would like to raise money for from our Cake Sale and we will also be completing a school questionnaire thinking about the things pupils like in school and what they think could be improved.

Upper School:

This term, School Parliament will organise a whole school vote for how we should raise money for Red Nose Day and will organise a vote to decide who we will raise money for at our Winter Market.

Toby from Merton Council who is working with our pupils who are now part of the Merton SEND Youth Advisory Forum, will join us for our school parliament meetings during the academic year. Additionally, school parliament will attend Youth Advisory Forum meetings both virtually and in person throughout the year. School Parliament will be attending the Merton Remembrance Day Service in November.
