Autumn Term Report: Sports
The sports foci this term are:
- We continue to have the Platinum PE Sports Mark
- KS4 & 6th Form Morden Pool swim are taking place on Tuesday Mornings
- Horse riding takes place for Year 7 pupils on Tuesday Mornings
- Tiger class will continue Yoga lunchtime run by Fulham Football, this is to begin in the upcoming weeks.
- Josie is beginning planning for the annual St Helier Cluster Sports Event in July.
- As part of our Opening Schools Fund additional playground equipment has been ordered to help develop fundamental movement skills during playtimes.
- The Upper School has now joined the SSSSA (Surrey Special Schools Sports Association) this has provided access to a range of accessible and age-appropriate sports opportunities for KS3, KS4 and 6th form pupils from all pathways. Including boating, football, a dance festival and multi sports.
- Upper School are taking part in an exciting project with the Tim Henman Foundation. All pupils in KS3 will have a regular tennis coaching session with a fully funded coach. The coach also stays over lunchtime to run a tennis club that all pupils have the opportunity to access. The school has been provided with new equipment to support the sessions and it is hoped a tennis sports day involving other SEN schools will be arranged for the summer term.
- Cricket coaching will be continuing after October half term, delivered by Surrey Cricket at no cost to the school. The coaching includes a lunch time club accessed by all pupils and more focused sessions for 6th form pupils as part of their Sport & Leisure curriculum.
