Boccia Inclusive Competition London Youth Games
At the end of February, KS4 and Sixth Form pupils in Matisse and Kusuma Classes were invited to represent Merton in the 2023 London Youth Games, Boccia Tournament.
Held at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, the competition was the first that the school took part in with the London Youth Games, a result of our recent partnership with Sean McInnes Sports Coaching. We would like to extend our thanks to Sean for inviting us to compete in this prestigious competition.
SMSC is a local company run by Sean McInnes and his team, providing physical education and after school clubs in more than 20 schools across the borough. They also put on football and multisport holiday camps at various facilities as well as weekend football sessions.
The event was a resounding success. Pupils engaged in four rounds, performing brilliantly well and managed to reach a play-off game to get into the semi-final round! We would also like to applaud our pupils sportsmanship and team working, and another thank you to SMSC for this fantastic opportunity. As Borough Team Organiser, they are responsible for all the events that make up the London Youth Games and are looking to create an inclusive and welcoming borough of sport through this competition.
