Catching Up with Year 7

We make great efforts to ensure that the move to secondary school is as smooth and exciting as possible through a series of ‘Move Up’ events in the summer term, before pupils start their new secondary education adventure at Upper School. Last term we welcomed pupils transitioning up from Y6 in Lower School and, in this edition of the newsletter, we spend time catching up with class teacher Grace, to find out how Kandinsky Class pupil Harris has settled in.

“Harris has really blossomed being in Year 7. He absolutely loves our sensory stories and dinosaur-themed massages in Creative Curriculum and enjoys relaxing on the massive beanbag and controlling our bubble tubes with his switch in our sensory station in the classroom. During reflection time, Harris enjoys the fibre optic light to be stroked up and down his limbs as it makes him giggle. He has so many friends across the school and likes to interact with them, often grinning when they call his name. Harris particularly enjoys swimming with his class and in Pathway, has been making consistent progress at using the high-tech eye gaze systems to develop his language and communication”.
