Perseid School

Pets as Therapy

Lower School were very happy to meet Lottie, our new therapy dog this week. Pupils were really happy and engaged by her, and she was very excited to meet our pupils!

Pets as Therapy (PAT) is an approach where specially trained dogs are utilised to calmly promote positive wellbeing across a range of settings. At Perseid, this includes pupils taking  Lottie for walks in the grounds, caring for her, reading stories and talking to her. This initiative supports communication, language, social/emotional development and well-being and we are already seeing positive impacts.

Lottie adds to our animal based provision alongside resident Lower School pet rabbits Comet and Star, Luna another therapy dog at Upper and KS3 horse-riding lessons at Diamond Riding Centre.
