PODD

The Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) assisted communication system is used for some pupils at Perseid in cases where this is judged to be a more effective system for an individual pupil, than other whole school systems would be.

PODD is a book or device containing symbols and words to support communication between people with complex communication needs and their communication partners at school, home and in the community.

PODD was developed by by Gayle Porter, a speech and language therapist with the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre in Victoria, Australia.

PODD has been developed over the past 15 years by Gayle Porter, a speech and languageÂ therapist with the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre in Victoria, Australia.Â

Perseidâ€™s SALT isÂ trained in PODD and advisesÂ teaching, learning support colleagues, and parents / carers on implementation. The SALT will design books and implement programmes with individual pupils'
