Perseid School

Pupil Leadership

This academic year, Lower School Council welcomed Kaiden as their newest member. School Council play an integral role at the school, helping to make decisions regarding their school and thinking of ways to support their peers, community and learning. So far this year, the Lower Council created a short list of movies which the rest of the school voted on to watch to support our fundraising efforts for Children in Need. In addition, pupils collectively decided which charity they wanted to support with the Perseid School 2021 Calendar, selecting Merton Giving Coronavirus Fund to help those in our local borough.

At Upper School, we warmly welcomed Hassan to the Council and he has already proved to be a valued member of the group and is enjoying his new role. So far this term, School Council have met three times; firstly, pupils met to discuss Covid Safe School and review the changes made to ensure that all members of our school community are safe, in addition to assessing the Rights Respecting Schools Gold Achievement feedback and celebrating how proud we are of our whole school achievement. Secondly, the council met with a member of MMICT to discuss technology in school and considered plans for the annual Christmas Market and its replacement in light of our Covid safe practises. Lastly, Council met to plan Children in Need and Festive Fun Day activities and voted for Age UK as the chosen recipient of our fundraising efforts and they look forward to completing their annual school questionnaire and planning for Comic Relief, in the Spring term.
