Summer Term Report: Local & National Events/Projects
Such projects offer opportunities for pupils to take part in national and local community events, contributing to pupil’s rights to be part of a community. It builds on their social skills and offers them a breadth of experience.
- Sports Week: Our sports week commenced on 17th of June. The annual sports day will be run by Merton Sports Partnership Coach and held on Thursday 20th June. Parents are invited to the outdoor event with lower school sessions taking place in the morning and upper school sessions in the afternoon
- London Broncos Merton School Sports Partnership have expanded their partnership with the London Broncos. We are very excited to have a visit to Upper School from the London Broncos first team players and their mascot, Buck, on 28th June. They will be delivering their H2O 8 roadshow - handing out water bottles and providing the pupils with a short assembly on the importance of staying hydrated.
- SSSSA Dance / Movement Day: This term, we have joined the Surrey Special Schools Sports Association and participated in our first event, the Dance / Movement Day. Our upper students also had the opportunity to wear the school sports uniform for the first time.
- Merton School Sports Partnership - Boccia Competition A group of pupils from Upper School attended the MSSP Boccia event. The pupils played extremely well securing 1st place.
- Merton School Sports Partnership - Panathlon: There are plans for a group of pupils to participate in another event through a new partnership with Mark Bullock from the Merton Panathlon Team, part of MSSP. A KS3 class will be attending this event at Sutton Sports Village. In addition a group of 6th form students will receive a visit from Mark Bullock. Mark will host an exclusive Panathlon day for the pupils and will also provide advice to staff members and share his advice on how to further develop personalisation in PE lessons.
