Summer Term Report: Sports
SPORTS
Lower School
- Rebound in house training took place at the end of last term. This meant that all Lead Teaching Assistants have been trained so that we can expand our provision. The aim is to increase our offer from 6 sessions per child a year to one session per child each week which should have a positive impact on wellbeing as well as developing strength of limbs, coordination and core strength.
- Key stage forum groups took place between teachers and the lower school PE lead to discuss the proposed Rebound timetable with the goal to try and mitigate any possible issue which may arise. The aim is to trail sessions this term ready for it to start fully from September.
- New Senior Teaching Assistants and those who missed training have been signed up ready for September.
- We claimed nearly £19,000 in funding for the opening schools fund for 2022-23. This enables us to run our afterschool Rebound club and the in house training, a lunchtime Yoga club and increase gross motor skills developed during lunch and playtimes through new equipment which includes bikes, scooters, climbing equipment, general sports equipment and storage for our playground.
- Our bid for a further £20,000 for 2023-24 has been accepted which will enable these clubs to continue as well as a new after school dance club from September.
Upper School
78.46% of Upper School students will have had access to an out-of-school PE lesson this school year (51 out of 65 students). All planning for KS3 Year 1, KS4 Year 2, and 6th Form Year 1 has been completed using the new proforma aligned with the UNICEF rights and PSHE Skill Builders.
