UK Parliament Week
This week is UK Parliament Week! As we are a Gold UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador school, we have been encouraging the pupils to explore how decisions and laws are made, and looking at the three influences: the Monarch, Government and Parliament.
Key Stage 3 have been looking at the Palace of Westminster and recreating Pugin's encaustic tile designs in the rebuild; they have also been thinking about King Charles III and using their creativity skills to make crowns. Key Stage 4 and 6th Form have been thinking about how laws made by Parliament impact our everyday lives; they have been looking at the Climate Change Act 2008 to cut down on single use plastic (introducing a charge for plastic bags) and have made their own carrier bags for our Winter Market shoppers.
All of our pupils are also participating in a democratic process which is voting on what sport to do as an Upper School competition for next Monday (International Day of Disability) - they are voting between a boccia or seated volleyball tournament.
